Every now and then I love applying henna for a beautiful elegant pattern in a rich brown/reddish colour. Henna is a paste made out of crushed leaves and twigs of henna plant. When the paste is applied to the skin and left on for a few hours, it leaves behind a orange – dark maroon stain which fades away in 7-14 days. Henna is natural however there are many different henna products being sold which are not all natural – so check the product before you buy! I buy henna from my local Indian grocery store. I’m not sure where else it would be sold but if you see an indian grocery store, pop in!
For a while now I have been building a collection of henna inspiration by googling and pinteresting (is that a word?) and thought I’d share some of my favourite designs with you and hopefully inspire you to create some unique designs.

I love both of these patterns. I feel the one on the left is super elegant whereas the one on the right features a more boho-ish look. These whole hand patterns extend to your wrists featuring an elongated, finished look.

Sometimes I prefer to do just small, minimal patterns on my hand. These designs are perfect for that where its not too overcrowded and leaves an elegant look. I also love applying henna on my feet and wearing open shoes with them on.

Now these looks I love. These are the perfect designs for a simple and elegant henna design. They look like you’re wearing a ring and is very easy and simple to do yourself. If you don’t have a lot of time to sit around waiting for the henna to dry, these two are the perfect designs!
And finally, my own attempt at henna! I forgot to take photos on the first day I did them so they’re a bit lighter than they were on the day it was done (whoops!). And also, my hands and feet are VERY small hehe.
Which pattern is your favourite? x
